What a phenomenal pic, MK! I have never seen a butterfly like this before. It appears the wings are almost ‘textured’! Gorgeous! Cher xo

Thank you Cher!
I saw this butterfly yesterday for the first time on my dog walk, so I returned today with my camera. I got lucky.

Excellent capture, M! I can even see its individual scales -wow!

Thanks Eliza! Scales — so that’s what you call those tiny feathers!

That’s what I like about photography, Gigi. If I really slow down & just look, even at a little weed, it’s really quite beautiful.

So pretty – I love the contrast of the underside of its wings with the pretty blue of the top.

Thank you Sarah. I also like that contrast on the wings. So many of us also have two (or more) sides!

Thanks Karen. It’s striking how very different are the wing’s tops versus under-sides. I’m glad for the enjoyment it brings.

It is SO beautiful 🙂 Great photo. How did you make him pose for you? 😉

Thanks so much Sonia. I was lucky that this one was willing to hold still. There’s another one I’ve been trying to photograph for months, but that kind never seems to land!

I know what you mean. I tried to photograph butterflies too and they are REALLY difficult to “catch” in the right position. And that blue is my favorite kind of blue 🙂
