Welcome Home

DSC_5592_edited-4

For the last two months I’ve spent 101% of my waking hours on the sale of our old house, the purchase of our new house, packing, and finally moving into our new home. At last the dust is settled. On my first real grocery shopping trip I was headed for the fresh spinach when I saw this. It’s the first of what I hope to be many orchids to come live in the sun porch of my new home.

  1. Welcome back to the blogosphere. Phew, bet you’re glad that ordeal is over! May you enjoy great blessings in your new home. 🙂
LOVE your orchid, my stars, I can see why you fell in love with it, it is gorgeous! And your header is stunning – a field of CA wildflowers, divine.

    1. Ordeal is exactly the right word. I have resolved never ever to move again, and if I must, then it will be into an RV — an extremely small and simple RV.

I had to get that orchid. The purple going from shades of deep lavender to nearly black. It’s so impressive.

Yes you’re right, of course, it’s a field of California wildflowers in my header. As I said above to Karen, I’m so delighted to have so many new nature things to explore. Today I saw a bird I’ve never seen before, right here in my yard. And I’ve seen several Orioles (or the same one several times) which is such a thrill for me. Makes sense since this area is full of fruit trees.

  2. Great color. I’ve don’t think I’ve ever seen that color in an orchid before, even at the Missouri Botanical Garden’s annual orchid shows. It ‘s more like a color one would see in a pansy.

    1. Now that you mention it, that’s exactly the color. I have a lot to learn about orchids – I’ve always thought of them as too esoteric for me. Time to get over that.

  3. Glad to see you back and lucky you to be all settled. We spent months fixing up a house we rented and FINALLY it’s listed for sale. Still waiting on that one. Then it looks like we may be moving as well. So we may still have that to look ‘forward’ to… 😉
