The Getty Museum sits high above West Los Angeles, with a magnificent view of the city and the ocean. Visitors can walk under pines and pepper trees and olive trees to reach the top, or take a tram.

As much as spiders give me a fright, I am impressed by their web-building skill. Great specimen and photo!

And spiders don’t have to read any books or get college degrees to spin these architectural masterpieces! It really is amazing.

This weekend we saw a special exhibit of Peter Paul Rubens, and two photography exhibits, and a perennial favorite: medieval and renaissance decorative arts. Yet what photograph did I come home with? A masterpiece by a spider.

If the little spider had been weaving her web when I walked by, I would have stayed to watch this tiny piece of art in the making.
Thank you Karen.
