The first day of summer was very hot and very windy. An eerie yellow light came through the windows. When I looked out the upstairs bedroom window, I saw the smoke from a fire west of my home.
There were actually two fires, a mile and a half apart. The two fires have now merged. One of the fires started when a car went off the road and down the mountain at this reservoir. This location is where the Bald Eagle from an earlier post had its nest. I think the baby is old enough to fly by now.
wishing you and all down there
gentle breezes
and safety from fire!

Thanks David for the good wishes. We need all the cool we can get. Please also send us some wishes for a nice marine layer to float inland?

Thanks Val. It is quite eery, that’s for sure.
We are quite a distance from the fire, so it’s just the smoke (and hot weather) that cause grief.

Wow, kind of scary. Is it hard to breathe? If you need to get away, you have a place here! ๐

The air is still bad and it bothers A’s asthma. I’m fine.
Do you have room for 2 dogs & 5 cats? ๐

It’s a rough year for our poor, dry state… and then you hear about all the flooding in Louisiana and wonder why it can’t all even out.

From what I understand of climate change, we all need to expect more excessive & more extremes. Welcome to the new normal.
